In recent days, Cyclone Ului passed right through the Whitsundays, but neglected to stay for even one night at any of our fabulous resort islands or great Airlie Beach accommodation. We suppose this is for the best as she was quite well known for making a mess, never mind flushing the $100,000 engagement ring down the toilet.
The view from overhead must have been quite something though as her eye got to behold the 74 islands of the Whitsundays in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Different to most of the Great Barrier Reef, the islands of the Whitsundays are a submerged mountain range, with peaks and rising majestically out of the sea to lofty heights, above 300 metres in places.
After tossing some tree branches along the way, she was quickly on her way to becoming nothing more than a tropical rain depression.
Clear skies and Autumn weather have now arrived in the Whitsundays in the wake of the best and worst of what Summer can deliver. Streets are cleared of debris, shops are open for business and virtually all services restored.
We invite tourists, travellers and our Skallegues to the Whitsundays as we get back to the business of showcasing one of the best island destinations in the world. Should you be considering your travels in the not to distant future, be sure to get in contact with one of our local members to ensure that you get the very best experience here.
